Petra and the Jordanian Desert
We start by crossing the border from Eilat, Israel to Aqaba, Jordon. After a brief tour aroud the city we head north exploring the wadis and dunes of the southern Jordanian desert. Lunch is "served" picnic style as we travel and our "hotel" for the night is at traditional bedouin encampment. On the second day we continue north, stopping off for lunch at a local reseraunt, and continuing on to Petra, the Red City carved in stone. After a full guided tour we relax for the evening enjoying a dinner at a nearby hotel. The final day, we continue driving to the north of the Arava Valley where we reach the Moav Mountains of the Dead Sea area and their famous canyons such as Wadi Arnon, which is almost sub-tropic. We concluding by crossing back to Israel at the Bet Shan border crossing. All told, we have covered about 500 kilometers of mountains and desert.
